The Santa Ana Symphony Orchestra unites musicians across generations to pursue artistic excellence, foster musical growth, and inspire community through meaningful orchestral performance.
SASO is a college-community symphony orchestra that brings together Santa Ana College musicians and OAP members
to rehearse, learn, and perform meaningful orchestral repertoire at a high standard in a supportive environment.
The Santa Ana Symphony Orchestra is a full symphonic ensemble dedicated to artistic excellence, education, and community engagement. By uniting musicians across generations and experience levels, SASO fosters musical growth, collaboration, and shared purpose through orchestral performance.
SASO performs two major concerts each semester and serves as a cornerstone of orchestral music-making within the Santa Ana College Music Department.
Rehearsal Day: Wednesdays
Arrival & Setup: 7:00 PM
Rehearsal Time: 7:20–9:20 PM
Location: Santa Ana College — Room N-114
Members are expected to arrive early, be warmed up, and ready to begin promptly at 7:20 PM. Additional sectionals or dress rehearsals may be scheduled as needed.

A traditional orchestral program celebrating renewal and growth, featuring classic symphonic repertoire and spirited shorter works.

A pops-style concert highlighting beloved film music and symphonic favorites. This concert will also feature additional string ensembles.
Membership in SASO is by online video audition.
Auditions are submitted as unlisted YouTube videos. Editing or splicing between sections is allowed, but each section must be recorded in one continuous take with no cuts within that section.
No sight-reading is required.

Upon Acceptance, new members will be given directions as to which course to enroll in. All community members will need to enroll at no additional cost. Members will need to purchase parking permits for each semester.
At each concert, SASO hosts a Specialty Drawing. Patrons who support the orchestra by purchasing fundraiser tickets earn a chance to win gift baskets.
All proceeds help fund guest clinicians and much-needed orchestra supplies for our students.
SASO serves as a bridge between education and community, providing musicians of diverse backgrounds the opportunity to perform together, learn from one another, and contribute to Santa Ana’s vibrant cultural landscape.
